UMS appointed by PowerShop to build its brand with New Zealand’s Chinese community

United Media Solution (UMS), New Zealand’s leading Chinese digital marketing agency, has been appointed by electricity provider PowerShop to build its brand with Chinese kiwis in New Zealand.

PowerShop, the online electricity provider which was founded in New Zealand and is backed by Meridien Energy, aims to increase its brand awareness among New Zealand’s Chinese community.

UMS will be tasked with developing and managing digital marketing, PR and media activity to help increase brand awareness among New Zealand’s Chinese community. The activity will include a dedicated brand WeChat Official Account, social media competitions and promotions.

Jessica Miao, Chief Executive Officer at UMS, said, “We are excited to be working with PowerShop to help the brand connect and engage with New Zealand’s Chinese community. The Chinese community is a vibrant and important community within New Zealand and it’s great to see a brand responding to this community’s needs with dedicated marketing activity.”

Louise Chan, Marketing Manager, PowerShop said, “Choosing an electricity retailer in NZ is confusing enough without having decode all industry speak. We saw a growing need to provide a better electricity service to Chinese people living in New Zealand so partnered with UMS to create content and campaigns specifically for our Chinese audience. We’ve leaned heavily on UMS to tackle the language and cultural differences and couldn’t have done it without them. So far we’re seeing positive results and engagement.”

The new business appointment is the latest in a string of new business wins in recent months for UMS across its New Zealand and Australian offices as the agency experiences strong growth in 2018. Other wins include New Zealand Avocado, Apple brand Rockit, Australasian skincare brand DU’IT and Australian luxury fashion retailer Harrolds.

Miao added, “These new business wins cap off a strong growth of period for our business across our New Zealand and Australian offices and demonstrates the booming market for companies looking to connect with Chinese consumers.

“We believe our unique offering as a Chinese-headquartered company with in-depth market expertise in China, as well as local market experts in our Auckland and Melbourne offices, is the key to our success. We’re proud that our clients also believe in our model and can benefit from our expertise and experience helping foreign brands connect with Chinese consumers,” said Miao.
